Missouri Western head men’s basketball coach Sundance Wicks has resigned after two years at MWSU to take an assistant coaching position at the University of Wyoming.

Wicks took over a Griffon program that won just 13 games the two years prior to his arrival and he led MWSU to 12 wins his first year and 18 this past season. It was the most wins for Missouri Western and their first winning season since 2010. The Griffons went 13-6 in the MIAA and finished fourth in the league in 2020, and made it to the semifinals of the MIAA Tournament for the first time in 10 years.

Wicks returns to his home state as he is a Gillette, Wyoming native. He’ll work for new Cowboy head coach Jeff Linder, who he worked with at the University of Colorado in the mid-2000s. Linder was hired last week at Wyoming after four years at Northern Colorado.
