St. Joseph Police, Buchanan County Sheriff assist with stand-off in Trenton Wednesday

St. Joseph Police and the Buchanan County Sheriff’s department provided assistance for a stand-off in Trenton Wednesday.

Trenton Police were called to the 300 Block of Kavanaugh Street for a suicidal subject with a gun.

Officers secured the scene and first requested assistance from the Grundy County Sheriff’s Office and the Missouri State Highway Patrol.

Assistance was then requested from the Special Response Team from St. Joseph Police and Buchanan County Sheriff’s Office in an effort to end the stand-off.

After more than eight hours, 37-year old Marquise Jones of Trenton was taken into custody and charged with Unlawful Use of a Weapon.

The Trenton Fire Department and the Grundy County Ambulance Service also provided assistance.
