2 injured after Missouri man falls asleep at the wheel

DAVIESS COUNTY—Two people were injured in an accident just after 11a.m. Wednesday in Daviess County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2011 Ford Focus driven by David R. Collins, 52, Trenton, was eastbound on MO 6 one half mile west of Gallatin.

The driver fell asleep. The Ford crossed the center line and struck the rear axel of a westbound 2022 Freightliner semi driven by Marcus B. Stanley, 35, Miami Gardens, Florida, and then struck the front bumper of a 2019 Jeep Cherokee driven by Citally Salazar, 19, Milan. 

Daviess County EMS transported Collins and a passenger in the Ford April D. Swank, 40, Trenton, to Cameron Regional Medical Center. The other drivers were not injured. All four were properly restrained at the time of the accident, according to the MSHP.
