Mo. man accused of DWI after pickup strikes a tree

HOLT COUNTY —One person was injured in an accident just after 2:30a.m. Monday in Holt County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2021 Chevy Silverado driven by Chris A. Kurtz, 64, Oregon, Mo., was southbound on Olive Drive one mile south of Holt 245 and four miles northwest of Oregon.

The pickup traveled off the east side of the road, returned to the road, traveled off the west side of the road, returned to the road a second time and the driver failed to negotiate a curve in the road. The pickup traveled off the road, traveled through a field and struck a tree.

Kurtz was arrested on a requested charges of Driving While Intoxicated and Carless and Imprudent driving.  A private vehicle transported Kurtz to Fairfax Community Hospital.  He was also not wearing a seat belt, according to the MSHP.
