To celebrate St. Joseph becoming a Certified Gigabit City, officials with Metronet have made a $10.000 donation to Second Harvest Food Bank.

Government Affairs Manager Craig Zimmerman says donating money back to the communities they serve was an effort started by Metronet CEO Dave Heimbach, to show the company’s commitment.

“So, it’s not just so far the $30 million we’re putting in the build but we’re also donating to local companies, in this case the food bank, and trying to become a better partner with the city, with the companies in the city,” Zimmerman tells KFEQ/St. Joseph Post.

Zimmerman says Metronet typically donates to charities that are near and dear to its CEO

“It’s traditionally been to food banks in the cities that we’ve done this, and I think that’s one of the passions of Mr. Heimbach and now Metronet,” Zimmerman says.

Second Harvest CEO Chad Higdon says, “Metronet’s donation will provide nutritious meals and a source of hope to many families in the region. ”

The donation will help provide meals throughout the region to approximately 30,000 families.
