Just one from Missouri advanced to Spelling Bee quarterfinals

WASHINGTON —Ananya Aggarwal, 12, Columbia Independent Upper School is the only student from Missouri who advanced to the Wednesday quarterfinals of the Scripps National Spelling Bee. Seven students from Missouri earned a trip to compete at the national competition.

St. Joseph student, 14-year-old Natalie Linthicum North Davies R-III did not advance to the quarterfinals.

<p>Sixty spellers were eliminated in preliminary spelling and vocabulary rounds. That left 183 who took the written spelling and vocabulary test. That test eliminated 84 more. The quarterfinals are Wednesday with 99 spellers left</p>
