Kan. school bus driver jailed for allegedly threatening student

ATCHISON COUNTY—A Kansas school bus driver is in custody after an incident on Tuesday in Atchison.

Police were notified on Tuesday morning of an argument that had occurred between a bus driver identified as 68-year-old Paul G. Detherage of Atthison and a student on a school bus, according to. Police Chief Mike Wilson.  During the argument, the bus driver allegedly made threatening statements.

Just before 8a.m. Tuesday, police took Detherage into custody after he returned to the USD 409 school bus barn in the 2600 Block of Industrial Road, according to Wilson. He is being held on a requested charge of criminal threat.
