Sheriff: Driver was transporting cocaine at 101mph on Kan. highway

BROWN COUNTY —Law enforcement are investigating a suspect on drug allegations.

Just after 5:30p.m. January 4, a sheriff’s deputy on routine patrol stopped a vehicle for speeding 101 mph in a 65 mph zone in the vicinity of U.S. 75 and  160th, according to Brown County Sheriff  John Merchant.

While making contact with the driver  of the vehicle identified as 71-year-old Clarence Riley of Minot, North  Dakota, an odor of burnt marijuana was detected  coming from the vehicle. 

The deputy arrested Riley on requested charges ofPossession of Cocaine, Possession of Marijuana, Possession of Drug Paraphernalia and No Drug Tax Stamp.
