Brian Helm, of St. Joseph, has been sentenced to 28 years in prison following a guilty plea for the November 2024 murder of Dustin Allen Graham.

During a planned robbery, Helm reportedly used his vehicle to block Graham in a parking lot, smashed Graham’s window, and fired a fatal shot before fleeing the scene. Helm, who was a fugitive with an active parole violation at the time, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and armed criminal action.

His sentences—25 years for murder and three years for the weapons charge—will run consecutively. His co-defendant, Melanie Myers, admitted to her role in arranging the fatal meeting and pleaded guilty to first-degree armed robbery in April 2025.
