Residents of St. Joseph have until the end of the day to ensure they are eligible to participate in the upcoming local election.
Today, Wednesday, March 11, marks the final deadline to register to vote for the General Municipal Election scheduled for Tuesday, April 7.
The April ballot features several high-profile races that will shape the city’s leadership for the coming years, including the election of the Mayor, members of the City Council, and a Municipal Judge.
To be eligible to vote on April 7, Missouri law requires registration to be completed by the fourth Wednesday prior to the election.
- Online: Residents can check their current voter status or register as a new voter at GoVoteMissouri.com.
- In-Person: Registration can also be completed at the Buchanan County Clerk’s office during standard business hours.
Local officials are encouraging voters to familiarize themselves with the candidates and their specific voting districts ahead of time.
- Sample Ballots: Voters can view a sample ballot and verify their specific polling location by visiting the Buchanan County Clerk’s website.
- City Districts: Because City Council seats are often tied to specific geographic areas, residents can confirm which district they reside in by viewing the city’s interactive map at https://bit.ly/3NyMLrT.
Polls on Tuesday, April 7, will be open from 6:00 a.m. – 7:00 p.m. Residents are reminded to bring a valid form of photo identification to their polling place.
