Atchison’s International Forest of Friendship Set to Reopen with New Features

Atchison’s International Forest of Friendship is reopening to visitors on March 20 after a temporary closure for sidewalk replacement and other improvements. The project, funded by a Kansas Department of Parks and Trails grant, includes resetting 1,600 honoree stones and adding new features like child-friendly seating and a revamped Memory Lane. Visitors are reminded to stay on sidewalks while new grass grows, and upcoming projects include planting trees, repairing stones, and enhancing the entrance area. The Forest, celebrating aviation and space achievements, invites the community to join in its 50th-anniversary festivities on September 12. More information is available at ifof.org.
