A local group, “We the People- 3 Schools Inc.”, has filed a lawsuit against the St. Joseph School District and its Board of Education, alleging an unconstitutional district plan and Sunshine Law violations. The lawsuit claims that the adoption of Plan 4BR by the Board of Education is unconstitutional, unlawful, and involves an abuse of discretion. The group is seeking a preliminary injunction to prevent the implementation of Plan 4BR while the lawsuit is ongoing. A trial setting date has been scheduled for July 29th, 2026, with Judge Kate Schaefer presiding. Two current board members were not part of the board when Plan 4BR was approved.
