St. Joseph man dies in 2-vehicle I-29 crash

BUCHANAN COUNTY — A St. Joseph man died in an accident just before 9:30a.m. Thursday in Buchanan County.

The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2007 Chevy Colorado driven by an 83-year-old St. Joseph man was attempting to merge onto northbound Interstate 29 from southbound U.S. 71 seven miles north of St. Joseph. Upon entering Interstate 29, the pickup made an abrupt left turn into the path of a 2024 Cadillac driven by a 64-year-old Merriam, Kansas woman.  The Cadillac struck the drivers side of the Chevy. After impact the Chevy overturned.

Andrew County EMS transported both drivers to Mosaic Life Care where the St. Joseph man was pronounced deceased.  Both drivers were properly restrained, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
