ATCHISON COUNTY —Law enforcement investigating the theft of an expensive bicycle have made an arrest.
On August 8, a 76 year old man from Williamsburg, Virginia stopped in Atchison, Kansas, as h traveled across America on his Surly Disc Trucker bicycle on his way to Oregon, according to Atchison Police Chief Mike Wilson.
The bicycle was stolen at 11:00AM in the 700 block Commercial as the victim was in a local laundromat. Police recovered the bicycle a short time later just across the bridge in Missouri.
Just after 8:30a.m. Tuesday, police arrested 50-year-old Jody B. Erickson of Atchison in the 700 block M Street on a District Court warrant charging him with felony theft. Erickson was taken to the County Jail and is being held on a $10,000 bond.
