BUCHANAN COUNTY—One person was injured in an accident just before 2p.m. Friday in Buchanan County.
The Missouri State Highway Patrol reported a 2015 Chevy Malibu driven by an 87-year-old Platte City man was southbound on Interstate 29 in St. Joseph. The driver merged from the driving lane to the passing lane and the car struck the passenger side of a southbound 2008 Kenworth semi driven by a 67-year-old St. Joseph man.
After impact the car traveled off the east side of the road. The semi traveled off the east side of the road and struck a cable barrier, continued into the northbound lanes and overturned.
Buchanan County EMS transported the semi driver to Mosaic Life Care. The 87-year-old driver was not injured. Both were properly restrained, according to the MSHP. The Patrol no longer releases names of accident victims.
