UPCO in St. Joseph will host a dog and cat vaccine clinic featuring Dr. Bob Peters on Saturday, Jan. 24.
The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. inside the UPCO store. The clinic is open to any pet able to attend, though organizers require all dogs to be on leashes and all cats to be secured in carriers.
The clinic offers several low-cost vaccination options for pet owners. Rabies shots, five-way distemper combos for dogs, and kennel cough vaccines are available for $15 each. For cats, a three-way distemper combo is priced at $15, while a five-way combo is $20.
In addition to the medical services, the St. Joseph Animal Shelter will be on-site to provide free microchips for attending pets. Shelter officials noted that the process for obtaining a city license has transitioned to an online-only system.
To manage wait times and pet stress, organizers recommend that those bringing multiple or energetic animals bring a second person to assist. They suggest one person wait in the first-come, first-served line to handle paperwork and payment while the other waits in a vehicle with the pets until it is time to see the veterinarian.
UPCO is located at 3705 Pear St. in St. Joseph.
