Incumbent Mayor John Josendale and Larry Miller were chosen by Buchanan County voters as the two that will run for St. Joseph Mayor in April’s election.

The Buchanan County Clerk’s office reports 10.5% of county registered voters cast ballots in Tuesday’s single issue primary with all 15 precincts reporting.

Josendale received 1,839 votes, or 40.4% of the votes, while Miller received 1,170, or 25.7%.  Jonathan McClain just narrowly trailed Miller with 1,120 votes, or 24.6%, while Kenneth Reeder received 418 votes, or 9%.

Josendale and Miller will now advance to the General Municipal Election on April 7.  Tuesday’s election results also show a notable decrease in voter participation compared with the last municipal primary in St. Joseph in 2022, which did have more issues on the ballot, with 24.5% turning out to the polls.
