Why were flags at half-staff across Kansas last weekend?

Flags were lowered to half-staff across Kansas from March 7 to March 9 to honor the passing of Republican Representative John Resman, who served House District 121 in the Kansas Legislature for nine years. Governor Laura Kelly ordered the flags to be lowered in memory of Resman, who died on March 2 at his home in the Olathe area. The flags were raised back to their normal positions on March 9 following a press release from Kelly’s office.
