The Kansas City Royals have finalized their starting rotation for the upcoming season, optioning right-hander Ryan Bergert to Triple-A Omaha.
The five-man unit will feature Cole Ragans, Seth Lugo, Michael Wacha, Kris Bubic, and Noah Cameron. The move highlights the organization’s pitching depth, as Bergert remains a primary starter in reserve.
The competition for the final roster spots has narrowed to a few key candidates. Luinder Avila is a top contender for the last bullpen vacancy following a strong World Baseball Classic performance, while Nick Loftin, Tyler Tolbert, and Josh Rojas are battling for the final bench seat.
To ensure regular playing time, the Royals also optioned pitcher Mason Black and outfielders John Rave and Kameron Misner to Omaha. These prospects are expected to be the first line of reinforcements for the major league club as the season progresses.
