The executive director of human resources for the Leavenworth School District, Amy Sloan, was found not guilty of failing to report suspected child abuse. She was among a group of school employees charged in connection with a teacher who was convicted of sexually abusing students. Sloan, along with two other employees, was charged with multiple misdemeanor counts of failure to report child abuse. Two juries acquitted Sloan, while one count resulted in a hung jury. The Leavenworth County Attorney emphasized the importance of mandatory reporting laws to protect children.
