Officials at Savannah High School increased police presence Friday following reports of a potential threat that administrators later determined was not credible.
School administration, the School Resource Officer, and local law enforcement investigated the rumor after it began circulating among families. The Andrew County Sheriff’s Office and the Savannah Police Department partnered in the investigation before deeming the information unsubstantiated.
“The safety and security of our students and staff remain our highest priority,” the district said in a statement. “We have strong safety protocols in place and will continue to monitor the situation closely.”
In a statement on Facebook, the Andrew County Sheriff’s Department said out of an abundance of caution, law enforcement presence will also be increased at the high school on Monday, March 30.
