Kansas Senate President Ty Masterson released statements regarding Governor Laura Kelly’s veto of several bills, including House Bill 2111, which aims to increase recess time and implement the Presidential Physical Fitness Test for Kansas children. Masterson criticized the veto, stating that improving children’s physical fitness should be a top priority. Additionally, Masterson expressed disappointment in the veto of House Bill 2044, which would have provided tax relief for low-income seniors and active-duty service members. He also criticized the veto of House Bill 2763, which would require school districts to provide elementary students with daily recess and a state fitness test. Masterson vowed to pass these bills into law if elected Governor next year.
