Kansas City’s West Bottoms gains the American Royal Rodeo for now

The American Royal Rodeo is back in the West Bottoms, attracting cowboys, cowgirls, and a growing fan base to one of Kansas City’s oldest traditions. This year’s rodeo features over three dozen competitors and continues to gain popularity. The event showcases a variety of Western sports beyond bull riding, including barrel racing and tied-down roping. Organizers emphasize the event’s ties to agriculture and Western heritage while also attracting a new generation of participants. The rodeo, now in its 77th year in Kansas City, will eventually move to a new facility in Wyandotte County, Kansas.
