The Kansas unemployment rate remained steady at 3.9% in March, unchanged from February and up from 3.8% in March 2025. The labor force participation rate decreased to 67.6% in March, with total nonfarm payroll employment decreasing by 1,200 jobs. Private-sector jobs decreased by 1,000, while government jobs decreased by 200. The largest job gains were in trade, transportation, and utilities, while the largest decrease was in professional and business services. Since March 2025, total nonfarm jobs in Kansas have decreased by 4,100. The April 2026 Kansas Labor Report will be released on May 22.
